The well-being of our kangaroos is the standard by which we measure every decision at Kangaroo Ranch. We take our responsibilities under federal, state, and local requirements seriously and work cooperatively with the agencies that oversee us. We also hold ourselves accountable to a deeper commitment: to keep improving the care we provide, throughout every animal’s life.
That commitment is built in the ordinary moments of each day. Our Roo-Keepers spend time observing each kangaroo, learning their habits, preferences, relationships, and individual ways of responding to the world. That familiarity helps us notice subtle changes, make thoughtful decisions about their care, and recognize when an animal would rather rest than participate. We cannot care exceptionally for kangaroos in general without first knowing the kangaroos in our care as individuals.
We prepare with the same intention. Our team works alongside local first responders, reviews emergency procedures, and updates our plans as our facilities and operations evolve. The safety of our kangaroos, guests, and team depends on doing that work before an emergency occurs.
Every kangaroo who joins us has a permanent home with Kangaroo Ranch. We welcome a new animal only when we are ready to meet that individual’s needs for life—with the space, resources, skilled care, and attention they deserve. Working with these animals is a privilege, and we intend to honor it in the choices we make every day.
We believe every animal deserves to be treated with care, patience, and respect. Abuse, neglect, rough handling, intimidation, or any other harmful behavior toward our kangaroos will never be tolerated. This includes shouting at or deliberately distressing an animal. Verbal abuse or threatening behavior toward our Roo-Keepers, staff, or other guests is also unacceptable.
All guests must follow Roo-Keeper instructions throughout their visit. If someone behaves in a way that puts an animal or person at risk, Kangaroo Ranch may end their participation and require them to leave without a refund. Serious misconduct may result in immediate removal.
Our animal welfare policies are non-negotiable. Our Roo-Keepers have the authority to pause or end any interaction when they believe it is necessary for a kangaroo’s comfort or safety. We ask every guest to respect those decisions and help us make each encounter a positive one for the animals in our care.
